Control Panel Trainee - SE4

Job Introduction

We are looking for a Control Panel Trainee to join our team at Slade Green.

The main responsibilities:

  • Comply with safety standards and procedures.
  • Undertake academic learning required to attain necessary qualifications at pre-determined intervals.
  • Achieve acceptable standards of competence assessments to progress through the 
  • training stages.
  • Undertake academic learning required to attain necessary qualifications at pre-determined intervals.
  • Complete in-house training required to acceptable standards
  • Responsible for planning and authorising the movement of trains within the depot/sidings, as well as 3 shared mainline signals. This should be carried out in accordance with Company and Industry Standards/Procedures.
  • Responsible for the efficient deployment of shunter drivers, ground shunters and other Operations staff based at the depot ensuring train movements and other activities are being carried out in accordance with the instructions given
  • Responsible for presenting trains to the mainline signaller via the Train Describer in good time without delay 
  • Authorise blocks and local isolations as and when required in accordance with depot isolation procedures
  • Responsible for presenting, allowing and authorising trains to physically leave depot in a safe and appropriate state for passenger service at the time of departure.
  • Maintain the operations notice cases at the depots.
  • Liaise with planners, cleaning contractors and KICC to develop berthing arrangements that enable delivery of the right units for maintenance and cleaning activity and the correct formations for service.

The experience you'll need:

  • Good literacy and numerical skills – minimum of 2 GCSE’s at Grade C / 5 or above in English, Mathematics or equivalent
  • Ability to attain necessary qualifications/pass competence assessments.
  • Must be able to gain and hold PTS.     
  • Able to understand and interpret timetable and train planning documentation
  • Intermediate knowledge of IT office packages, TRUST, P2, & GEMINI.
  • Good personal organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate and influence within a team.
  • Physically fit and able to pass a medical which meets the PTS standard.
  • Ability to undertake all assessments in accordance with the requirements set out in the standards contained in SESPOPS015 Assessment of Competence and Fitness.
