Operations Manager

Job Introduction

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity to join Southeastern as an Operations Manager at our Tonbridge and Hastings Train Crew Depots where you will line manage and lead your driver managers in delivering professional and supportive management to our drivers to enable them to deliver a safe, reliable and punctual train service to Southeastern’s customers.

Reporting to our Head of Drivers you will ensure that the highest possible safety, Customer Service and operating standards are achieved at all times.

We are passionate about finding the Right People, giving them the Right Skills and putting them in the Right Place at the Right Time to ensure a seamless service for our customers. Therefore you will be expected to robustly manage the training program for your depots and ensure that trainee drivers qualify on schedule, putting mitigations in as necessary.

You will also have direct accountability for the performance at your depots to include safety, performance,  and compliance with Industry and Human Resources Policies.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven success in meeting demanding budgetary and workforce productivity targets.
• Experience of leading and directing a large team in railway operations.
• Ability to interpret financial statement.
• Comprehensive knowledge of railway operational standards and railway rules, regulations and instructions, together with experience and understanding of the regulatory framework.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experienced negotiator.        
• Strong investigatory skills with a good questioning technique 
• Well organised – able to plan for and achieve deadlines
