Panel General Purpose Relief Yard
Job Introduction
To cover all leave, absence and training days of the shift based roles as requested:
- Production Delivery Engineer
- Yard Movements Coordinator
- Shunter driver as required
This is a wide ranging role, providing both operational expertise and team leadership. When covering the shift positions you will:
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the depot and sidings, organising the punctual delivery of the right units in the correct formations for maintenance, train presentation and passenger service, auditing of contract cleaning activities and act as liaision for all depot / Network Rail engineering works.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operational running of the depot, leading and motivating a team of staff to ensure that they work together safely and effectively to the required standards and specifications. Co-ordinating the effective deployment of staff to ensure production deadlines and targets are met in a timely manner.
Whilst not covering:
- Provide support to meet the requirements for operational service and depot targets.
- Develop and design ways to continuously improve processes to drive continuous improvement and yard efficiencies.

The Ideal Candidate
- 5 year experience in an Operational/Engineering discipline,
- NVQ A1/City and Guilds level 3 in Competence Assessment (Working toward).
- Core Management and Leadership training.
- Knowledge of Conditions of service applicable to Shunter Drivers and other operational staff.
- Ability to supervise people.
- Must hold valid PTS.
- Competent in operating signalling panels, carriage washing panels and other technical equipment.
- Competent in being a Yard Movements Controller.
- DPRP.
- Hold license to undertake isolations.
