Trainer/Assessor - Ashford/Orpington - 12-18 Month Opportunity

Are you an experienced Train Driver looking to develop skills that will support your future career aspirations?   We have exciting secondment opportunities within the training academy to become a trainer assessor – enhance your career prospects and develop & support the next generation of train driver 

The role

Deliver training and support to trainee train drivers, ensuring these colleagues have the knowledge, skills and develop the relevant experience to become competent train drivers. 

You will offer support, coaching and guidance in all aspects of the role, using your own experience to facilitate their learning.  One of the requirements to becoming a certified train driver is that the trainee will need to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are aligned to the apprenticeship standard, and you will be expected to guide trainee’s in this area.

Working within the training team you will support your colleagues in delivery of all aspects of training, ensuring that our company values and behaviours are role modelled and held up as exemplary performance.

This is an exciting time -  not only will we support you to develop new skills and welcome you into our team, you will also gain recognised qualifications in learning and development.

The role is 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) working 37 hours per week (flexible working arrangements).

The role is an MG1 Contract & T&C's (including private health cover) for a minimum of 12 months and maximum of 18 months (you will be provided a 3 month notice period for the contract to end)

The Ideal Candidate

About you:

We are looking for applications from Train Driver’s, preferably with experience of training/coaching others (although all necessary qualifications/training will be given).

You should be motivational and inspirational in your approach and be keen to share your experience and expertise that will help to develop the knowledge and skills of the next generation of Train Drivers.

To excel in your role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • You should be competent in the duties of a train driver, have a good recent safety record with at least 3 years driving experience.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
  • Customer focussed to deliver a high quality service
  • A friendly and approachable manner
  • Aligns to all Southeastern’s behaviours
