Job Introduction
To cover all leave, absence and training days of the following roles:
- Production Delivery Engineer
- Yard Movements Coordinator
- Shunter driver
This is a wide ranging role, providing both operational expertise and team leadership.
You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the depot and sidings, organising the punctual delivery of the right units in the correct formations for maintenance, train presentation and passenger service, auditing of contract cleaning activities and act as liaison for all depot / Network Rail engineering works.
Key tasks will include the safe and efficient operational running of the depot, leading and motivating a team of staff to ensure that they work together safely and effectively to the required standards and specifications. Co-ordinating the effective deployment of staff to ensure production deadlines and targets are met in a timely manner.
Role Responsibility
- Responsible for the efficient deployment and supervision of shunter drivers, ground shunters and other operations staff based at the depot.
- Responsible for planning and authorising the movement of trains within the depot/sidings
- Provide operational expertise for the team and SPM, including, Supervision, training/coaching and document writing.
- Have a sound knowledge of the Engineering Management System (EMS), Genius, P2, Trust, Train Describer, Word, Excel, Depot boards and the Wiki.
- Responsible for constructing and maintaining train service departure documentation, identifying and distributing any changes to the depot berthing/ departure plans.
- Able to monitor and react to operational train service trends and process management issues.
- Undertake train and depot cleaning audits as required.
- Liaise with fleet planners, cleaning contractors and KICC to develop berthing arrangements that enable delivery of the right units for maintenance and cleaning activity and the correct formations for service.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in an Operational/Engineering discipline,
- Core Management and Leadership training.
- Intermediate IT skills (Excel, Word etc).
- Ability to supervise people.
- Ability to interpret operational publications
